Always try to change your going-out times, so your pet doesn’t become dependent on a specific schedule. For example, if you always take your pet out for a walk at 10 a.m., it will get used to that. What happens if one day you can’t go out at 10 a.m.? Your pet will get frustrated and will act out. But if Fido doesn’t know just when he’s going to go out, he won’t bother you. Also, at times make sure that you go out without your dog, so it can learn to stay home by itself. And don’t come home during your lunch hour just to let the dog out or spend time with it. Although your intentions are good, what happens one day when you can’t come home?

Isn’t it funny how one innocuous PVC pole with the words “survey marker” can seem so sinister. Just this week the pole was placed on the Charlotte Harbor beach at Hill Tide Estates, a testament to that gated subdivision’s relentless (and a bit acrimonious) pursuit of establishing the sand as private … even though people have been walking that beach for a very long time.

The 2022 Boca Grande Film Festival is in the books, but the memories of good times with friends and some truly wonderful films will remain.
The Audience Award and fan favorite went to “My Donkey, My Lover and I.” The two runners up for Audience Award were “The Rescue” and “Imperfect.”

Zimbabwe is the only African country with vast amounts of carveable stone. In fact, the stone found there is of such great importance to the people of Zimbabwe, that the word “Shona” is derived from a word in their native language literally meaning “house of stone.” This art medium has been made into a world renowned traveling exhibition of these modern Zimbabwean Shona stone sculptures and, in 2022, the prestigious honor for the exhibition location has been bestowed upon the Peace River Botanical & Sculpture Gardens in Punta Gorda. Join the festivities and listen to the sound of chisels clinking against stone echoing throughout the gardens through April 18.

he musical theatre community mourned en masse when the iconic Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim passed away at the age of 91 on November 26, 2021. Broadway luminaries, such as Lin Manuel Miranda, Bernadette Peters, Sarah Bareilles, all gathered on the iconic red steps in New York’s Times Square to perform a moving tribute to the beloved composer.

“I’m a bike rider, I’m an exerciser, so I have to keep moving,” John explained. “I enjoy keeping busy. And could you find a better place than Boca Grande to be an outdoorsman?”
