The Gasparilla Island Maritime Museum will host the Howl at the Moon “Ladies Night Out” on Saturday, June 10, and it isn’t too late to register.
The opening cocktail party will be held on Friday, June 9 upstairs at Scarpa’s Coastal from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
There will be hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, a raffle and a silent auction featuring numerous gifts donated from the community.

Lee County Commissioners will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday to discuss, among other things, Hurricane Ian expenditures.
According to the County Commissioners’ agenda, a donation of $150,000 from the Boca Grande Disaster Fund will be used for the renovation design of the tennis/pickleball court at Wheeler Road Community Park.

All is going as planned with the progression on the island’s new permanent cellphone tower. According to Vertical Bridge’s Vice President of Site Development Steve Gosnell, they are scheduled to stack steel for the tower starting in July. T The construction company says that all is proceeding as planned.

On an already smoky Boca Grande day caused by fires in Cape Coral and Matlacha, when a call came in as a boat fire at 8:43 p.m. on May 30, it was easy to speculate that the caller might just be seeing the smoke from the towns south of us. It was, however, a boat fire … not that it easy to figure out.
