At top, plans for one of the two solar projects in front of the Historic Preservation Board. The panels are on the rear of the house so they are not visible from Gilchrist Avenue. The board decided earlier that while they were supportive of solar panels, they wanted a chance to review any work that would be visible from the street. The Boca Grande Historic Preservation Board will meet at 10 a.m. on September 11, to consider four items, including two solar panel installations in the historic district.

The cases include the Sackett house, 291 Gilchrist Ave., with new roof mounted solar panel arrays and the Soderberg house, 255 Whiskey Row. In each case, the solar panels are located behind the street view of the house.

The meeting will also review a historic cottage at 310 Palm Ave. The renovation, according to county filings, will match the local architecture of 350 3rd Street, 280 Palm, 261 Tarpon, and 271 Tarpon, which were part of the estate of Mrs. Dorrance Hamilton. The exterior features will have white Chantilly lace and pure white trim, as is the existing paint color, lapped siding, double-hung windows, 5V gable metal roof and native landscaping to match the existing property.

The meeting will be held at the Boca Grande Community Center. Information, plans and a docket are available at leegov.com/dcd/Events.
