The fences at Hill Tide Estate seem to be procreating.
While the only “new” news we have regarding the original fence is from Lee County, a new fence has appeared in the last week – this one attached to the pier the gated subdivision built … and it looks as though they have every intention of taking it from far.
Between Lee County, the DEP and the Southwest Florida Water Management District, the only agency to respond was SWFWMD. They are looking into it.

The 2022 Boca Grande Film Festival is in the books, but the memories of good times with friends and some truly wonderful films will remain.
The Audience Award and fan favorite went to “My Donkey, My Lover and I.” The two runners up for Audience Award were “The Rescue” and “Imperfect.”

I am writing this letter to the Boca Beacon in hopes that you will publish it in an upcoming issue and help plant the seed of an idea benefiting the entire community. I write as a friend, admirer, and long-time visitor to Boca Grande, which stands out for the way its citizens and residents have preserved the charm, history, and small-town character of the island and its town center. For the downtown area, the unpretentious traditional architecture of small-town America, white steepled churches, friendly local shops and galleries, and quality dining are what makes Boca Grande so inviting, so unique, so walkable, and so special.

Eleanor Aherne was the wife of the stage and movie actor, Brian Aherne. Kelli remembers movie posters from Brian’s movies on the walls of the house and a sign on one of the bedroom doors that said “We don’t rent to thespians,” proving that Brian like Eleanor had a sense of humor. Kelli has also seen a photo of the couple in bed where Eleanor has a lampshade on her head. While Brian died before Kelli met Eleanor, she has heard that he was very British and formal but that the couple held hands as they walked in Boca Grande.
