BY T MICHELE WALKER – The Boca Grande Community Center Auditorium was a hopping place on Friday, April 30 as Lee County Parks and Recreation held another public meeting to view plans for the proposed improvements for the dog park.
Residents asked questions and eagerly viewed the plans showing the potential new park, which will be located at the Wheeler Road ballfield location. The park is tentatively scheduled to be complete in March of next year.
Sixty percent of the completed plans were on display, including images of a typical pavilion. Jason Lamey of Lee County Parks and Recreation pointed out that the dog park will not contain the stone wall and planter shown in the renderings, but will include pet and human water fountains.
The design of the park will mirror other Lee County off-leash facilities with an enclosure for large dogs and one for canines 18 inches and shorter. It will also include paved parking, a shade structure, seating and other amenities.
