Youth fishing tourneys done for 2015, next season’s dates set
The Boca Grande Community Center hosted its last Youth Fishing Tournament of the season on Saturday, May 2 at the Boca Grande Fishing Pier.
The weather was windy and the bite was slow. The kids hooked a few mangrove snapper and a couple grouper the entire morning. Joe Wier, Supervisor for Lee County Parks & Recreation stated the tournaments would not be possible without the support of the Boca Beacon, Charlotte County Community Services for the use of the pier and Boca Grande Marina for all of the live shrimp.
He also wanted to thank D.J. Keisling for assisting with the tournament and Len Tatko for volunteering.
The next Youth Fishing Tournament will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015.
