Firefighters golf tournament held to support benevolent fund

The Boca Grande Fire Department hosted the First Annual Boca Grande Firefighters’ Benevolent Fund Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 2 at the Rotonda Golf & Country Club. For their first-ever tournament they had 18 teams participating, with a team comprised of Venice firefighters coming out on top as the winner with 18 under par.

The team of Lew and Mary Anne Hastings, Corynne Bailey and Jeremy Chino received the “Booby Prize.” Jensen Barton won the hole-in-one prize, which included lodging at The Innlet, meals at The Temp and PJ’s Seagrille, an SUP excursion from Island Bike n Beach, as well as bike rentals, and a fishing trip with Capt. (and firefighter) Blake Cheske.

image7The firefighters netted approximately $5,300 for the Benevolent Fund, which provides support for firefighters and their families in the event of an emergency.
