FullSizeRenderThe swing bridge will be closed to boat traffic from February 8-15 so contractors tearing down the old swing bridge can remove some of the steel.
The closure was originally slated for the first week in February, but they were unable to perform the work they needed to do because of extenuating circumstances.
The notice is also posted on the GIBA website, giba.us, and will be posted in the Coast Guard’s Notice to Mariners.
Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg has announced that between February 10 and 18 they will relocating all buoys in Boca Grande Pass to the south. This project will take buoys that are close to the encroaching shoals and relocate them to deeper water, so the Coast Guard buoy tender can safely transit to perform maintenance on the buoys.
“This project will continue to mark the best water and meet the needs of the users of Boca Grande Pass,” said BOSN4 Darren Pauly. Actual latitude and longitude will be determined by the buoy tender on scene and will align the channel to mark the best and deepest water.”
Once the work is completed, a Coast Guard voice broadcast will relay the changes and they will forward the information to all concerned.
