Art After Dark – Try something new for your senses

Art After Dark is a sensory celebration that the J.McLaughlin store will be hosting the evening of March 30. This is the second such program the store has sponsored, using its outside wall as a canvas to display iconic photographic work. This time the artist is Susan Wood, world famous photographer to the stars of movies, music, fashion and politics, as well as a highly skilled photojournalist capturing down-to-earth happenings.

Weekly red tide report

Over the past week, the red tide organism Karenia brevis was detected in 72 samples along Florida’s Gulf Coast. Bloom concentrations (>100,000 cells/liter) were present in nine samples: six in Pinellas County and three in Manatee County. This glass craft started for Dave three or four years ago as he was vacationing in Boca Grande. “We like bringing stuff up from the beach, and we put it on a little table outside our room at the Innlet,” he said. One year he had some pieces of beach glass he had found, and had them on display on his table. Another person at the Innlet also put some beach glass out, but then added a large pile of the frosted glass, identifying it a beach glass.
