To the Editor:
Dust off those sneakers, and call on your friends and family to join Suncoast Humane Society at their 2017 Pet Walk benefitting homeless animals. In collaboration with Venice MainStreet, this will be a fun- filled morning on Saturday, Dec. 9 at Centennial Park in downtown Venice.
Peace River K9 Search & Rescue will be providing an exciting demonstration of the skills and knowledge of the dogs and their handlers. The walk will be around downtown Venice, ending with Ciao Gelato serving ‘doggie gelato’ to all of the participating dogs. There will be awards for top fundraisers (both individual and teams), best-dressed pets and more.
Register online at humane.org on their Events page, or stop by 6781 San Casa Drive in Englewood if you need a paper registration. This Pet Walk is sponsored by Coldwell Banker, Sprouts, Venice MainStreet, City of Venice, Eraclides Gelman Law, Ciao Gelato, D&W Heating and Air Conditioning, Florida Weekly and Herald Tribune Media Group. Sponsorships are still available by contacting Marcea Flowers, Special Events Manager at mflowers@humane.org. All proceeds will help the homeless pets of our community.
Suncoast Humane Society has been serving animals and people since 1971. Founded as Englewood Animal Aid Society, the organization soon found that its services and programs were challenged to meet the demands placed on them by the pet overpopulation crises.
Expansions to their facility in Englewood during the 1980s and 1990s helped the Society to provide more effectively for a growing service area. To reflect the changes, the organization became Suncoast Humane Society. Over time our service area expanded, and it now includes Charlotte County, Sarasota County, the Boca Grande portion of Lee County and beyond.
Visit our adoptable pets and learn more about Suncoast Humane Society online at humane.org, in person at 6781 San Casa Drive, Englewood, FL 34224 or at one of our many community events.
