Little angler Richard Barrett was proud, proud, proud of his catch.

About 15 kids participated in the youth fishing tournament on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Boca Grande Fishing Pier. The Boca Beacon teamed up with Lee County Parks and Recreation staff to host the last tournament of 2016.
A total of five fish were caught. Lily Vacopoulos won the trophy for the biggest fish caught. Richard Barratt caught the most fish for the boys, and Page Presnell had the most fish for the girls. Each child took home a certificate for fishing that day.
Raffle prizes included tackle boxes, bait buckets and rod and reel sets.
The tournaments are catch-and-release and are free for boys and girls ages 15 and younger. The next one will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the fishing pier near the north end of the island.
