Inn’s Moore and WTA top 100 Miller to return to series

BY JEN FIERS – The 2016 Pro Tennis Exhibition Series will be held each Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Boca Grande Club from February 3 to March 16. The Series, with proceeds benefitting the Suncoast Humane Society, will include eight men and eight women competing for over $5,000 in prize money.
There will be three men’s doubles matches and three women’s doubles matches, with a mixed doubles match to round off the event. This is the third week of an eight-week series of articles profiling all sixteen players.
In his second season as the Assistant Pro at The Gasparilla Inn, Jackson Moore will be participating in his second Pro Tennis Exhibition Series at the Boca Grande Club this spring. Having trained at Celsius Tennis Academy in Sarasota as a top junior player, Jackson was the Florida State High School 3A Doubles Champion before playing #1 for two Division I programs at Georgia State and Florida Gulf Coast University. Jackson has been coaching for four years since graduating from college and coached in Nantucket last summer.
Karin Miller is returning for her second Series, as well, as the new Assistant Pro at the Sarasota Sports Club in the Country Club of Sarasota. Karin is an NCAA champion and former WTA tour pro. She was a member of the U.S. National Junior Team for three years and played college tennis at Duke University, where she was part of a team that won the NCAA National Championship. As a pro, Karin won 10 titles and was ranked in the top 100 on the WTA Tour. Karin competed in all four major Grand Slams, playing the likes of Lindsay Davenport, Martina Hingis, and Mary Pierce with a win over Maria Sharapova.
The 8th Annual Tennis Ball/Silent & Live auction to benefit the Suncoast Humane Society takes place at the Boca Grande Club on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 6 – 9 p.m. The event will include cocktails, dinner, and a live and silent auction. Kennedy Brothers Auction Services will be handling this year’s live auction. Tickets are $125.00 and can be purchased at the Suncoast Humane society.
