■ STAFF REPORT
Staff at the Boca Grande Health Clinic is tight-lipped about what some of the amazing auction items are for the annual Hank Wright Åuction, which will be held on Thursday, April 7. The only they would say is that there are, in fact, some “presidential” items on the block.
The Clinic’s annual meeting will begin the two-day Hank Wright festivities on Thursday at 4 p.m. Then at 5:30 p.m. islander Steven Busch will take his helicopter up over the 7th Street dog park, where his cohort Rusty Hagar will let more than 1,000 golf balls fly. There are three cash prizes up for winning in this event – $2,500, $1,000 and $500 – and the marked ball that makes it in the hole for each prize, or closest to it, wins.
Auditor Nat Italiano will be on hald, as well as golf pros Robert Duke, Ben McCoy and Dr. Gordon Nidiffer doing the judging.
At 6 p.m. the auction action begins at the Gasparilla Inn Beach Club, under a tent over the fire pit. The live auction will begin not long after that, with the words “Britt Hume” and “something presidential” muttered by Health Clinic Foundation representatives.
On Friday, April 8 the Hank Wright Annual Golf Tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Lemon Bay Golf Club. That event has sold out at this time.
