Travel & Leisure magazine has put forth its list of the “world’s best,” and The Gasparilla Inn & Club has taken the top spot on the list of Florida resort hotels. Every year the popular travel magazine sends out surveys to its readers to find out their ideas on who is the best of the best in everything travel-related.
“The fluted columns and strict dress code bring visitors back to a more gracious age – or, as one reader put it, ‘simple elegance – the best of old Florida.’ ” Our hometown “bastion of gentility” ranked even higher than Metropolitan by COMO and The Palms Hotel & Spa.
The top 10 list includes: Number 10: The Setai, Miami Beach (score 93.12) Number 9: The Palms Hotel and Spa, Miami beach (score 93.48) Number 8: Carillon Miami Beach (formerly Canyon Ranch Miami Beach), Miami Beach (score 93.60) Number 7: St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort & Residences, Bal Harbour (score 93.73) Number 6: Brazilian Court Hotel, Palm Beach (score 93.77) Number 5: Sandpearl Resort, Clearwater Beach (score 93.86) Number 4: Metropolitan by COMO, Miami Beach (score 94.36) Number 3: Biltmore Hotel, Coral Gables (score 95.32) Number 2: Acqualina, Miami, Sunny Isles Beach (score 95.53) Number 1: The Gasparilla Inn & Club, Boca Grande (95.76)
Other “world’s best” lists in this latest issue include (among many) the 10 best islands in the world, the 15 best cities in the world, the top five best mega-ship ocean cruise lines and the five best domestic airlines.
