Congratulations to the artist of the 2017 World’s Richest Tarpon Tournament, Kelly Reark.
Kelly is an award-winning local artist inspired by her days fishing in Boca Grande and Chokoloskee. Her mission is to motivate outdoorsmen to preserve resources for the enjoyment of all.
Since 2002 she has exhibited work in conjunction with fishing tournaments, galleries, and invitational or juried fine art festivals. Her work has been published in books, magazines and newspapers, and it is on display in both private collections and public spaces.

Directors of the World’s Richest Tarpon Tournament want to remind captains and anglers to sign up now, as the field is filling up fast for the May 25 and 26 tournament.
You can sign up by filling out an entry form obtainable at worldsrichesttarpon.com and faxing or emailing it to the Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce, or call the Chamber at 964-0568 for more information.
The Captain’s Party will be held on Wednesday, May 24 from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Gasparilla Inn Beach Club.
All captains and anglers are strongly encouraged to attend the party, as the reading of the rules will take place and a large raffle will commence as well.
Fishing will take place on Thursday and Friday, May 25 and 26 in Boca Grande Pass from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held downtown on Friday night at 8 p.m., and checks and trophies will be awarded. The first-place team will take home a prize of $30,000, with the second-place team taking home $20,000 (all numbers based on a 20-boat field). The team with the first and last fish caught each day will receive $7,500. The entry fee for a four-angler team is $5,000.
