The Coastal & Heartland National Estuary Partnership is putting on a Kids Fishing Clinic at the Arcadia Rodeo on Oct. 19, and are looking for volunteers.

This event is by far the best of its kind and offers a great benefit to our local fishing community,” said Charlotte County Citizens Action Committee representative Tonya Bramlage in an email. “In addition, this is an ideal opportunity for our veteran fishing folk to volunteer and share their expertise with young aspiring anglers.”

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., kids will spend around 30 minutes each learning about fishing regulations, proper techniques and natural resources stewardship.

After visiting all stations, kids will receive a free fishing pole and tacklebox, provided by Fish Florida.

Organizers are looking for volunteers with any level of fishing experience to help with registering kids, running educational stations and distributing fishing rods and tackle boxes.

Contact Andrea Vale at avale@chnep.org or (941) 833-6584 by Sept. 27 to volunteer or for more information. Volunteer training is available ahead of the event.
