The iconic rock festival provides the theme for the 24th annual Green Gala, hosted by the Barrier Island Parks Society (BIPS). It will be Monday, March 28, at the Boca Bay Pass Club, 898 Gulf Blvd. The party starts at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m.

The Island School, a tuition-free charter school for grades K-5, held its 9th Annual $1,000,000 Golf Shootout recently on a warm, sunny day at the Gasparilla Inn & Club’s golf course. The funds raised by this popular event are vitally important to the financial stability of The Island School, Lee County’s first charter school.

On Saturday, March 19 from 3 to 6 p.m. the board of the Gasparilla Island Maritime Museum will host a “Maritime Exposition Honoring the Whidden Sisters’ Legacy” at the museum and marina. Events will include music, food, local art for sale and more.
“The GIMM Board of Directors has changed, and has hit the ground running,” said Board Member (and family member) Kacy Cheske. “As a board, we have been making a lot of positive changes. We wanted to have an event to share the Museum with the community new changes and existing features.”

We’ve always heard that it’s better to own than to rent, but now you can also own where you store your vehicles, too. If you’ve recently been to the car show that is held on the first Saturday of each month in Englewood, you might have seen or spoken with Mitch Mesenberg of Michael Saunders Realty in the parking lot of Vino Loco. Cars and motorcycles are two of Mitch’s personal hobbies, and this location is a perfect place to talk to other fellow collectors and enthusiasts.
