A 62-year-old man who launched a boat at El Jobean ramp in Port Charlotte Thursday apparently became separated from the vessel sometime on Thursday evening. The boat was recovered between Jug Creek and Pine Island. Lt. Lee Cooper from Boca Grande took a call to assist in a search for the man at 7:39 a.m. on Friday morning. The United States Coast Guard and Useppa police are both involved in the multiple boat search process. “We believe it may have happened sometime yesterday but we cannot clarify an exact time at this point,” Cooper said.
