By Boca Beacon

Raymond Smedley, 81, of Boca Grade passed into eternal life by the grace of God on December 28, 2021.

Ray was a kind-hearted man and philanthropist throughout his life. He gave his time, talents and tithes to the churches he served, to community organizations, to children learning English, through the Stephen Ministry and directly to those in need.

To him there were no strangers, just friends waiting to be made. He reveled in relationships kindled at church, as a volunteer, at work and around town with people from all walks of life. His affable personality paired well with his work ethic. He started stocking shelves as a child, put himself through college, and after a quick detour into the Army, he earned his CPA and started his career as a financial executive retiring in 2000.

He is survived by his wife Mary Jo and his children from his pre-deceased wife Lynne; Mark (Amy) Smedley, Karen (Carl) Gulbish and Todd (Jennifer) Smedley along with his grandchildren Hannah, Will, Christopher, Peter and Tim.

Ray was courageous and always looked to the Lord for guidance in all aspects of his life. He was a loving husband, amazing dad, persistent caregiver and a loyal friend. He will be greatly missed but we can all attest that he is now with his loving Heavenly Father.
