Janet Eustis Butts (“Jill”), formerly from Wellesley, East Falmouth and Boca Grande, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2015 at the age of 89 at Foxhill Village, Westwood, Mass.

She was the daughter of Ruth Homer Eustis and Grant Blessing Eustis. She was born on December 5, 1925 in Newton, Mass. and was the loving sister of Jack Eustis, 1922-2014. She married Frederic Harrington Butts II (1919- 2004) in 1947 and enjoyed a happy and fulfilling 58-year marriage.

Through her life she participated in volunteer organizations including the Boca Grande Woman’s Club, Newton Wellesley Hospital Gray Ladies, the Congregational Church Women’s Group in Wellesley and the Wellesley Garden Study Group.

During her more active years she was an active member of the Wellesley Country Club, The Lemon Bay Gold Club and Wood Hole Golf Club. During her college years she placed second in a national diving championship.

Her surviving family members include: three children, Deborah Butts of Littleton, Mass., Ruth Tieder and her husband, Jack, of Annapolis, Md. and a son, Frederic M. Butts, of Grafton, Mass.; nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
