Edmund Morris, Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author, will be speaking at the Boca Grande Community Center about his book entitled, “Dutch: A Memoir of Ronald Reagan,” at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
The only biography ever authorized by a sitting President, Mr. Morris will be speaking about the 13 years of exhaustive research he did in the archives of Washington and Hollywood.
Thousands of hours of interviews with President Reagan and his family, friends, allies and enemies, equipped Morris with an unmatched knowledge of one of the 20th century’s greatest leaders.
In this lecture, Morris will provide an historical account of the rise and rule of Ronald Reagan from the young “Dutch” to the middle-aged Cold Warrior to the septuagenarian Chief Executive. Originally published in 1999, the book is in part, a reverie.
Morris personally met with President Reagan and was a literary guest at the White House when Reagan first moved in in 1981. It was then that Morris decided to write the controversial biography on the former President.
This event is part of the Friends of Boca Grande Community Center’s American Presidents and Politics Lecture Series. Tickets are general admission $35, reserved seating $60. Call 941-964-0827.
