Get your pooch primped! It’s almost dog show time
The fur will be flying on Saturday, March 28, at the Boca Grande Community Center, but don’t worry … it will be flying in a good way.
Make sure your dog is entered into the Boca Grande Woman’s Club Dog Show, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. No special certification is required for entry and everyone who lives or works on the island is encouraged to participate.
This year the show will feature a new category made just for rescued dogs. If you adopted your dog from a shelter or found your dog as a stray, it is eligible in the field.
Other fields of entry include everything from the traditional AKC standards – hunting, terrier, sporting, etc. – to more whimsical categories. As usual, a Boca Geezer will be chosen (the oldest dog at the show), as well as a Boca Bowser (the most talented and popular dog at the show).
All proceeds will go to the Suncoast Humane Society in Englewood.
