Capstan to lead golf tourney sponsorship

Along with a new venue, the Educate Boca Golf Scramble has a new Lead Presenting Sponsor – Capstan Financial Consulting Group.

This year’s tournament at Wellen Park Golf and Country Club on Nov. 6, 2023 will feature Capstan, a member of the Wells Fargo Advisors Financial network, on their swag and program. Capstan has donated $5,000 to the effort. 

The tournament, held by the Boca Grande Chamber of Commerce, has raised approximately $30,000 for scholarships for island youths in the past. Previous recipients have won scholarships for college tuition, vocational training and special education.

One Boca Grande resident is very grateful for the help he has received from the scholarship fund.

“The scholarship that I received from the Boca Grande Chamber made it possible for me to attend my schooling and be successful at the fire academy,” said recipient Wyatt Steyer. “It means a lot to me since I’m able to further my education, while it’s also setting me up for success.”

The event begins at 11 a.m. Registration is $200 per person.

The Chamber of Commerce has a nonprofit corporation to administer its scholarship fundraising and awards.

Every year the scholarship committee meets and determines which applicants have the necessary qualifications. Scholarships in the amount of $500 to $1,500 are granted.
