To the Editor:
Thank you for your generosity! The Suncoast Humane Society Boca Grande Capital Fundraising Committee is deeply appreciative of island residents who donated to meet the $250,000 February Challenge set out by Bayne and Jeanne Stephenson, Nat Italiano and Pat Chapman. We have met the February Challenge, and by meeting the February Challenge have been able to add $500,000 to the original $1 million, bringing the total to $1.5 million donated by island residents.
We still have more funds to raise, and if you would like to donate, our homeless pet population still needs your help. The time is running out for the old shelter, and if you have visited it, you know that the staff does a wonderful job but the facility is deteriorating – and remodeling is not the best option. A new facility is desperately needed.
I would like to thank the committee members who have been working diligently to raise these much- needed funds. They include Sally Allgyer, Melanie Sullivan, Nat Italiano, Elsa Soderberg, Jeff Moore, Julianne Greenberg, Pat Chapman Terri Griffith and Kirsten Fulkerson from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation.
If you would like to contribute, please contact me or Kirstin Fulkerson at Gulf Coast Community Foundation, (941) 486-4606.
