Herbert “Herb” Allan Sodel, 83, entrepreneur and charismatic character, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 9, following a prolonged illness. Mr. Sodel was a longtime resident of Boca Grande and Johns Creek, Georgia.

GIWA announces another milestone in new water reclamation facility update

BY BONNIE PRINGLE, GIWA- Phase II rehabilitation of GIWA’s Water Reclamation Facility located on Gasparilla Inn & Club’s golf course has reached another milestone. The final concrete pour was done this week for the new preliminary treatment structure, which includes two new concrete tanks, and an elevated platform to support new equipment and walkways.

SUBMITTED BY THE GICIA- The Gasparilla Island Conservation and Improvement Association is pleased to announce that work to restore the GICIA Walking Path began on Monday. The 3.5-mile, sand path, which was exclusively designed for walkers and runners, is being refurbished with 30 loads of coarse sand.
