Chili cook-off
Plan for a fun-filled day at Whidden’s Marina on Saturday, Dec. 12 to benefit the Gasparilla Island Maritime Museum. A giant tent sale starts at 9 a.m., featuring local artists, antiques, collectibles, furniture and the latest museum t-shirts and merchandise.
The third annual Horseshoe Tournament kicks off at 3 p.m. All are welcome to participate. The entry fee is $15.
The Pirate Coast Chili Cook-Off is the main event, starting at 4 p.m. and lasting until all the chili is gone. If you think your chili is the best there is, enter this fun annual event. Compete against past winners, Boca Grande’s restaurant chefs and all the newcomers. This year will feature a “Corny Side Dish” competition. Everyone can enter, as long as corn is one of the ingredients.
There will be live music during the chili tasting and horseshoe tournament, and prizes will be awarded at the end of the evening. Make sure to check out the silent auction items and purchase some raffle tickets.
For information and to enter, call Dave Arner at 964-0222. To donate items for the raffle and silent auction, call Leslie Coleman at 964-2878. For information on booth space for the tent sale, call Melissa Steyer at 964-2334.
