William Harold Buettin, 92, of Naples, died Wednesday morning, June 22, 2016 at Physicians Regional Hospital in Naples, Fla. Mr. Buettin was a native of Marion County, Ohio, son of the late Barney and Mildred Buettin and husband of 67 years to Arline Kraft Buettin, who survives. William served his country in WWII in India and Burma as Sargent US Army, Company B, 558th Signal Air Warning Battalion. Upon his return to the United States he attended and graduated with a BA degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. where he also met his future wife, Arline Kraft of Batavia, Ill. After initially working for the Montgomery Ward Company in Chicago he then spent his entire career in manufacturing, first in Dayton, Ohio. Then, with his longtime friend, Cass Sisler, he was the co-owner and president of several Marion, Ohio based companies including Abbott and Co. and Precision Post Co. A competitive golfer and avid boater, William retired to Boca Grande, FL in the late 1980s. He spent the next 20 years enjoying retirement along with his boyhood friend Charles Roberts and his wife, Mary. They were very active within the Boca Grande Club and had many close friends there. In 2004 he and Arline moved to the Glenridge in Sarasota before moving to Naples in late 2015. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Bradley (Linda) and Daniel (Taylor) as well as five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and dozens of other loving extended family members. Mr. Buettin is preceded in death by a brother, Joe Dan, and a sister, Phyllis Midlam. His older sister Maxine Welch of Cincinnati, Ohio survives. A private memorial service will be conducted on July 2, 2016 at United Methodist Church of Batavia, Ill. where he and Arline were married on July 15th, 1949.
