On Tuesday, April 2 the Lee Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to award a contract for the purchase and installation of new playground equipment at Boca Grande Community Park, 131 First Street West.
Installation should take place, according to the county, in late May or early June – right when school ends for the summer.
The contract, with Playmore Recreational Products & Services of Fort Myers, includes equipment such as a play structure, swings, slides and more. The contract cost is $158,817.
The project also includes installation of a new protective layer of engineered wood fiber, or playground-safe mulch.
The existing equipment was installed in 2007.
Lee County Parks & Recreation oversees more than 31,500 acres of parks, preserves, facilities and other sites. Operations include four recreation centers, 10 community centers, community parks, Conservation 20/20 lands, greenways, the Calusa Blueway Paddling Trail, four year-round pools, seven boat ramps, sports complexes including the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins spring training facilities, dog-friendly facilities and Gulf of Mexico beach parks.
