Nick Marchesano, executive chef at The Gasparilla Inn, has been honored as one of the Club + Resort Chef’s 40 under 40.
Marchesano arrived in Boca Grande just before Hurricane Ian, where he was faced with one of the most devastating natural disasters our island has experienced.
The Inn said in a release that “Without pause, Nick worked alongside our executive team to create a community kitchen using any resources readily available. Cooking and serving hundreds of meals a day to residents, first responders and workers, they gave more than the food provided, but a sense of gathering that was crucial to the recovery.”
Aside from his work at The Inn’s dining room, Chef Nick has overseen the reimagination of The Inn’s Beach Club menu, as well as banquet and culinary events.
In a writeup, Club + Resort Chef asked him what inspired his career in clubs and resorts.
“The clubs and resorts I worked at early in my career did a great job of using their resources to cultivate a learning-centered environment. I think the passing of knowledge through the mentor/mentee relationship is easily the greatest culinary institution. I am the product of many of those environments and always thought it pertinent to be able to create our own.”
