Benefits new equipment
The Boca Grande Fire Department is once again holding its Putting Around Boca Grande open house on April 5. The Fire Department is raising money to replenish trucks, equipment and protective gear damaged in last year’s hurricanes.
“The flood waters took a heavy toll on our trucks and equipment,” wrote District Chief Peter Kirvin in an event preview. “We are seeking donations to help us acquire a new fire apparatus and a quick-response EMS/Rescue vehicle. We also lost a significant amount of fire and rescue equipment when our station flooded. We understand that our residents and local businesses suffered heavy losses as well. We know that it’s a difficult time to ask for donations but we simply want to obtain the required tools necessary to provide exceptional service to our community.”
The event will feature a DJ, a fire truck ball drop, raffles and prizes, station tours and food and beer. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire department on East Railroad Avenue.
Tickets are $25 per player or $100 per team. First place will win $500, second place will win $200 and third place will win $100.
