You know it’s nearing the end of season when the spring Whidden’s Back Bay Tournament is held. The traditional fishorama this year was held on Sunday, April 2, and the first-place team was Charlie’s Angels.
Becky Paterson, Leslie Coleman and Carol Napoli with Capt. Charlie Coleman received a $1,000 prize and lunch for four at PJ’s Seagrille. Charlie also got a nice box of cigars and $100.
The team won for two reds and a trout with a combined weight of 14.8 pounds.
The second-place team included Michelle and Charlie Tyler with Capt. Roger Crafton. They caught one red and a trout for a combined fish weight of 8.2 pounds. Their prize was a box of cigars and dinner at The Temp for two. Capt. Roger received $50 and an outfit from Boca Grande Trading Company.
Most releases on the tally sheets included snook, reds and a few trout. The first-place male angler was Steve Smith on Team 9 who took home a rod, reel and line.
The first-place female angler was Leslie Coleman, and she took home a necklace from Serendipity Jewelry. Leslie was on Team 1.
The biggest red weighed in at 7.2 pounds and won Becky Paterson from Team 1 an Innlet weekend, and the biggest trout weighing in at 2.8 pounds won Steve Smith a $350 photo package from Photographic Images.
Becky Paterson took the prize (a tarpon chart) for most unusual fish, a stingray. She also got the prize for most spots on a red – 4.
The heaviest snook weighed eight pounds and was 31” inches long. It was caught by Claudia Bentley.
