The Beacon has been putting the daily emails from Chief Blosser out on our Storm Center page at BocaBeacon.com. Chief, as folks call him, has an un-erring ability to sum it all up. We print this not only as a matter of record, but a sense of the scale of the recovery on island.

At press-time, this was the latest: G.I.W.A.: Repairs have begun and are progressing well on the destroyed water main on the Causeway. Water is now flowing the length of the island, though not everyone will receive water immediately. Water will be directed east and west from the main, depending on damage. Lift station restoration is ongoing.

Access: When entering the island, use the left lane for passes. Hurricane pass distribution continues at the Fire Station from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

G.I.B.A.: Use caution. The bridge was opened twice today without issues.

Electricity: Power restoration on the island is nearly complete. If you don’t have power, let us know, and we will follow up with FPL.

FEMA: FEMA will be on the island tomorrow (Thursday), canvassing to provide assistance information.

Bathrooms: The comfort station at the Crowninshield House has restrooms, showers, laundry, ice, and potable water.

BGFD: We have canned and bottled water available at the Fire Station. We continue to handle a high volume of calls along with many public assistance requests daily. Hurricane tag distribution remains heavy. If you call the station, you may get to speak with some of the amazing folks helping us answer the phones.

Clinic: Cleanup and debris removal have begun. The doctor on call will be mobile on the island.

Everyone, take care.
