Charlotte County Administrator Hector Flores will begin a one-year term as president of the Florida Association of County Managers on Thursday. Flores was elected by fellow members of the FACM board of directors at the organization’s annual business meeting in 2023.

“It’s an honor to be able to lead such a distinguished group of public servants as president of the Florida Association of Counties,” Flores said. “I’ve learned in my decades of public service in Charlotte County that leadership starts with listening.”

Flores has been with Charlotte County government since October 1995. In 2002, he was promoted to fiscal supervisor for the Fire/EMS Department. In 2007, he was promoted to financial manager. In December of 2010, he joined the county administrator’s office as an operations research analyst and became assistant to the county administrator in August 2012. In 2016, he became the assistant county administrator, and in 2019 was promoted to deputy county administrator. In March 2020, the County Commission appointed him as county administrator.
