It really was a ‘howling time’ at the Howl at the Moon

Saturday night the winds were “Howling” out of the east for the ‘Howl At The Moon’ Tarpon Tournament. Despite the wind and choppy waters 35 tarpon were released in three hours of fishing and 19 boats enjoyed the fun.

Congratulations to First Place, Capt. CJ Soderquist’s team on the “Last Call”; Second Place, Capt. Matt Coleman and his team on “Sally J”, First Fish, Capt. Kyle Potts team on “Pescado Grande” and Last Fish, Capt. Chad Bombenger’s team on “Sabalo”.

Thank you to all participants, also to the Island merchants for their donations to the Captains Raffle prizes and to the Boca Beacon for their coverage.

A special shout out to Kacy Cheske, our tournament director and the voice on the radio, along with her expert stats team of dedicated score keepers and to the observers on board each boat! Seconds count!

Thanks to everyone for their continued support of the Gasparilla Island Maritime Museum! Looking forward to the upcoming. “Ladies Howl” on June 15! Cocktail Party for the lady anglers and their captain is Friday, June 14, at Scarpa’s Coastal, starting at 5:30 p.m.
