On the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 4 at approximately 8:25 a.m. the Boca Grande Fire Department got a call that no one wants to get – a gunshot wound victim on the beach at Range Light Beach on Gulf Boulevard. She was found near the dunes and it was unknown how long she had been there.

The female victim was transported to the helipad and life flighted to a trauma hospital.

At the time of her transport she was breathing and able to speak.

Foul play is not suspected at this time.

At the time of the incident the beach was cordoned off by deputies. By lunch time the barriers were gone and the beach was filled with people.
