Englewood Bank & Trust once again is a proud participant in the Marine Corps Reserve’s annual Toys for Tots campaign. Residents are invited to bring unwrapped toys to any branch during business hours through Dec. 2. Volunteers will distribute toys to less fortunate children throughout the area.
Office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at three of the four branches:
• Main, 1111 S. McCall Road
• Gulf Cove, 12651 S. McCall Rd.
• Rotonda/Cape Haze, 8725 Placida Rd. #10
• The Boca Grande office, 302 Park Ave., opens at 8 a.m. Monday through Friday and closes at the same time as the other branches.
Toys should be valued at $10 or more. Less expensive items are accepted and will be used as stocking stuffers.
“Every year, it seems we collect an increasing number of toys to brighten the holidays for area kids in need,” said bank President Kevin Hagan. “I’m sure our employees, customers and area residents will come through again in a big way.”
Toys for Tots is among America’s top-rated charities. The program is run totally by volunteers under the leadership of the United States Marine Corps Reserve. The Toys for Tots motto is “Every child deserves a little Christmas.”
United States Marine Corp Reserve Major Bill Hendricks founded Toys for Tots in Los Angeles, Calif., in 1947. Five thousand toys were collected during the first campaign. A year later, Walt Disney designed the now famous Toys for Tots train logo and created the first national Toys for Tots poster. To date, the Marines have distributed 604 million toys to 271 million children. For more, visit toysfortots.org.dy for your donation.
