The Horse and Hound pet and equestrian boutique opened in the Historic Depot building. The Island School’s annual “Give Thanks Feast” was held at the Crowninshield House.
TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO
Sprint announced that caller ID was officially available on the island. The Boca Grande Community Center celebrated its 25th anniversary.
THIRTY YEARS AGO
The Boca Grande Pass Marina was purchased by South Dock Co-op Inc. The Calusa Indian mound site on Cayo Costa was nominated for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
THIRTY-FIVE YEARS AGO
The Albritton fishery in Placida changed its name to Boca Grande Fishery. The fishery was still owned by the Albritton’s family.
FORTY YEARS AGO
The Port Boca Grande Lighthouse received a $15,000 grant from the state for fencing, replacement of windows and staircases and to place a beacon in the light tower.
