Boca Grande’s traditional Easter Sunrise Service is back. All four of the Island’s churches are coming together again to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, with each denomination taking a role in the service. The gathering will be on the shore near the Boca Grande Lighthouse at 7 a.m., April 17, Easter Sunday morning. The service will last about 20 minutes.
The special service has not been celebrated since 2019, due to the COVID pandemic. Popular demand has brought it together this year, with the Reverend Dr. Matthew Williams, senior pastor of the Lighthouse United Methodist Church, handling the organizational details.
All are welcome to participate in the service, which will include music, a welcome greeting and prayer, a reading of the Resurrection Gospel, a homily, and a response litany.
Individual churches will have services at their respective locations, but the sunrise service is a nondenominational celebration.
