■ STAFF REPORT
Smart Studio is hosting a new exhibit of paintings by Gail Cleveland titled “Wild Florida” for the month of February.
Gail, a plein aire painter, has completed a series of watercolors and acrylics depicting the natural beauty of Florida. She is an award-winning artist, having earned an honorable mention at the New York Arts and Letters Exhibit and a Best in Show at Laurelton Art Society, among many others.
Her work was chosen to grace the State House of Maine to celebrate Acadia National Park’s 100 birthday and selected to decorate the Regency Inn of Bar Harbor when our 44th president and his family visited.
Gail’s mother, artist Wini Smart, introduced her to the art world at a very young age, taking her on painting trips and museum visits. The two artists traveled around the country and in Europe to paint for many years. Sadly, Wini passed this fall after a brief illness. She was 85 years old. She has left many wonderful paintings inspired by her travels.
Her most current works are also on display at the gallery.
For more information, call 964-0519. The gallery is located at 370 Park Ave., Boca Grande.
