STAFF REPORT
It is time once again for the Boca Grande Bike Path Parade and Woman’s Club Spring Fair, this year to be held on Saturday, March 28. This will be the 35th year for this island tradition, and the theme is the “Wild West.” The Boca Grande Preschool will serve as the Grand Marshall of the parade.
All walkers, bicyclers and golf carters are welcome (with the exception of gas-powered carts – they are not allowed at any time on the Bike Path). Pre-registration ends on Wednesday, March 25. There are many categories to win a prize in, so make sure your workplace/organization/family is dressed out in their finest Wild West attire.Categories are: Business/Commercial; non-profit organization; group entry; and children.
Line-up on the morning of the parade is at 5th Street and the Bike Path at 9:50 a.m. The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. Late registration will be held at the corner of 5th Street and the Bike Path at 9:45 a.m.
The parade will end at the Boca Grande Community Center at 11 a.m., at which time the Woman’s Club Fair will begin.
The Lemon Bay Band will entertain everyone on the Community Center grounds. The official start and welcome to the community will be by Vicky Winterer, President of The Boca Grande Woman’s Club.
Come hungry. Wear your western attire. Get in the spirit by riding the “bronco” bulls … hold onto your hat! Rosaries Riding Academy and Pony Rides, LLC, located in Sarasota, will bring ponies to ride and a petting zoo.  Checkers the Clown will be looking for you. Diane Schmidt will be waiting to paint faces.  Michael White is coming to sketch caricatures. The Magician, Stevie Dee, will entertain you.
This fair is run by an army of volunteers. The Woman’s Club is over 350 strong.  Its purpose is to enrich lives and to build a better all-around place to live.  Please come. There will be something here for everyone.
The parade and spring fair are coordinated and sponsored by Lee County Parks & Recreation and the Boca Grande Woman’s Club. See you there!
