Public forum for parking ordinance set for May 13 at Lighthouse United

By Staff Report

There will be an open forum on the Lee County’s proposed parking regulations on Tuesday, May 13, at Lighthouse United Methodist Church.

It will be an opportunity for all to hear about the issue. The forum is at 2 p.m.

County staff and elected officials have been invited to speak on the proposed ordinance. Also invited are residents, businesses and groups who have questions about the ordinance.

Lee County has been unwilling to hold an official public hearing on the issue in Boca Grande. In the past, it has held public hearings here for items of importance to the island, including the improvements to the Boca Grande Community Center. The county also has monthly public meetings of the Boca Grande Historic Preservation Board.

“It’s just an open forum to discuss the ordinance,” said Larry Hannah of Lighthouse United Methodist Church.

The ordinance is expected to be voted on by the Lee County Board on May 20.
