Preservation Board reviews new Community Center details

The Boca Grande Historic Preservation Board will meet at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10 at the Boca Grande Community Center Woman’s Club Room. Newly released documents from Lee County show details of the proposed new Community Center.

The main items on the docket are as follows:

  • Remodels to the Boca Grande Community Center. These include the demolition of the existing multi-purpose building, the construction of a new auditorium building and additions to the Crowninshield and Dishong Bowen houses, as well as to The Island School.
  • Remodels and additions to 371 Lee Ave., including additions to the west and south facades, enlarging of the pool deck, replacing the awning windows and changing sliding.
  • Post-Hurricane Ian restoration of 446 4th St. E., and the addition of a balcony.

The board will also review any pending cases that are in process, as well as items raised during the meeting by the public and board members.
