While the new parking ordinance for Boca Grande will be filed with the state of Florida this week, it could be months before it is enforced. That means that current rules for parking and beaches, including access on beach access streets, are still being observed.
“The county will file with the Office of the Secretary of State this week, so it will take effect beginning of next week,” said Betsy Clayton, communications director for Lee County. “However, it will not be fully enforced until program details are rolled out (ie signs, permit process, etc.).”
The ordinance itself states that it is not enforceable until signs are installed. The clause reads:
“This Ordinance shall not be enforceable until such time as signs are installed at the direction of Lee County in the locations the County deems necessary to inform the public of the parking restrictions.”
