A good bowl of chowder is hard to beat, and buying one for a good cause makes it taste even better. The Island School’s second annual Chowder Dinner and Auction will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Crowninshield Community House, with 12 restaurants participating.
The cost is $15 for adults at the door, $5 for children (cash, please), for a meal that includes chowder, salad, cookies and a drink. Money raised at the event will benefit The Island School’s PTO, an organization that funds the school’s yearbooks, many field trips, the Friendship Dance, teacher supplies and special projects.
Restaurants participating include 3rd Street Cafe, Eagle Grille Millers Dockside, The Loose Caboose, Outlet at the Innlet, The Gasparilla Inn & Club, The Pink Elephant, Noy’s Bistro, the Boca Bay Pass Club, P.J.’s Seagrille, South Beach, The Temptation and The Grapevine.
Auction items include a three-day, two-night stay at The Anchor Inn, a 1/2-day fishing trip with Capt. Dave Chatham, private, round-trip air charter for four to Key West, two golf lessons with The Gasparilla Inn & Club’s head golf pro Robert Duke, and art from local artists.
