Lucas Martin remembered by family, friends

Lucas F. Martin, a frequent worker in Boca Grande died in a motorcycle accident in Port Charlotte on Jan. 25. The family is grieving the loss.

“We are hanging in here about 15 minutes at a time,” said Jared Marshall, his stepfather. Jared had been working out on the island with him since he moved from Indiana. 

His mother, Amber Marshall, said that at a memorial on Saturday, over 100 people showed up. “The community he has created is incredible,” Amber said. “We didn’t realize how much of an impact he had.”

He was smart and a fast learner, including learning Spanish. Very quickly, Lucas found a place here. “He was operating the skid steers digging people out,” Jared Marshall said.

Lucas was born on June 17, 2004, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Lucas shared a special bond with his girlfriend, Epy Rose, and cherished their time together with friends. He is survived by his father, Brad Martin (Tiffany), his mother, Amber Marshall (Jared), and his siblings: Katie Martin (Dylan Delph), Lilly Martin, Grace Marshall, and Triton Weldon.
