ISLAND SHERIFF, FIRE AND EMS NEWS: Rat trap robber on the loose

On Thursday, Aug. 8 Lee County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a residential burglary on the island (exact location redacted due to Marsy’s Law).
According to reporting deputies, contact was made with the complainant, who is the caretaker of a home in Boca Grande. The caretaker said he witnessed a silver, single-cab Ford F150 driven by a slender male wearing a hat and shorts park across from the residence.
The complainant stated he saw the driver get out of the truck, walk to the side of the residence and come back into view carrying a rat trap, used to trap iguanas. The trap was described as “metal, three feet long, one foot wide, with a round, white sticker on top with words in blue. It also has a sticker that says, “Trap under surveillance.”
