The debris is gone from Wheeler Road, and on December 15 the Boca Grande Farmers Market will be returning to its traditional place.
“YES, we will be back!” said Betsy Ventura, one of the directors of Local Roots, the organization that manages a number of farmers’ markets in Southwest Florida, including the one in Boca Grande.
“(Lee) County has approved us to return. Opening day will be Friday, Dec. 15 and we will be open every Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through the end of March,” she announced. More details will be coming, including a list of expected vendors.
She said the exact layout of the market is not set yet, but will be worked out soon, with adjustments being made for the new design of the dog park.
The Farmers Market was not able to operate last season at all, due to the use of the area for storing and staging Hurricane Ian debris. That is all in the past now, and the park is ready for the market to return this winter.
