Dorian at the Great Wall final
A little 8-year-old boy from Rhode Island is traveling the world without leaving his bed. Dorian Murray has terminal cancer, but his supporters worldwide bring him some comfort. You might have seen him on Facebook, as he has virtually traveled as far away as China, and as close to home as North Port and Englewood, with signs saying “D Strong” proudly displayed everywhere.
Kristie Walker, an employee at the Boca Grande Health Clinic, has connections with the little boy’s family. She knew one of his greatest dreams of all was to see the Great Wall of China, even though travel isn’t possible for him. When she asked if the Boca Beacon could virtually take him there, we had no problem with that at all. That’s what Photoshop is for.
“He’s like a little Buddha, and this picture of him is perfect,” Kristie said. “When his mom gets upset about his illness, he consoles her and says, ‘Mom, it’s OK.’ I know God sent him down to us, he’s got such an old, wise soul in his little body.”
Dorian, Boca Grande loves you.
