Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec. 8

November 21, 2024
By Staff Report

The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, sponsored by the Boca Grande Woman’s Club, will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8. Unfortunately, the tree across from Hudson’s did not survive Hurricanes Helene and Milton, so the ceremony will take place around the tree across from the front door of The Gasparilla Inn. Island clergy members will read scripture, and the community will join in singing carols.

Members of the Woman’s Club will share Christmas treats with all attendees. In appreciation of their long-time dedication to Boca Grande, Jeanie and Bayne Stevenson will serve as Honorary Tree Lighters.

All are invited to join in for this festive start to the holiday season.

The weekend will be a busy one for Christmas season activities, with the Boca Grande Christmas Walk starting at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Santa will drive through town in the firetruck around 5:30 p.m., streets will be closed off for Christmas shopping and children will be able to sit on Santa’s lap. Businesses typically stay open until 8 p.m.
