‘The Fantasticks’:

I sit here with my phone on a synonym app because I know I just can’t find in my head enough superlatives to express how FANTASTIC this Royal Palm Players production of “The Fantasticks” is that awaits you ticket holders! I speak from the heart, truly, because the talent on this particular stage this time will have you talking and singing for days. Maybe months. After COVID and its ups and downs, finally we get to enjoy some theatre time in the auditorium since “Nunsense” was canceled after three nights, two years ago.  

The Becky Buller Band to perform at Coconut Cabaret

The Friends of Boca Grande are excited to present The Becky Buller Band on Thursday, March 31, at the Coconut Cabaret. Located at the Crowninshield Community House, Becky Buller Band is scheduled to perform two shows, 5 p.m. to a sold-out crowd, and at 8 p.m.  The Coconut Cabaret features vintage vibes that come alive in the speakeasy-style of the Prohibition era. Guests will enjoy table seating and bring-your-own food and beverages while enjoying the performance.

Englewood Invitational Spring Art Festival to feature 40 artists and craftsmen this weekend 

The Englewood Invitational Spring Art Festival is slated for Saturday and Sunday, March 12 and 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Englewood Elks Club at 401 N. Indiana Avenue in Englewood. This juried art show is the brainchild of local artist, Carroll Swayze and promises to be the “Best Little Art Show in Englewood.”

The 2022 Boca Grande Film Festival is in the books, but the memories of good times with friends and some truly wonderful films will remain. The Audience Award and fan favorite went to “My Donkey, My Lover and I.” The two runners up for Audience Award were “The Rescue” and “Imperfect.”

he musical theatre community mourned en masse when the iconic Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim passed away at the age of 91 on November 26, 2021. Broadway luminaries, such as Lin Manuel Miranda, Bernadette Peters, Sarah Bareilles, all gathered on the iconic red steps in New York’s Times Square to perform a moving tribute to the beloved composer.

‘Proof’ sets premise for RPP’s ‘The Fantasticks’ in March

Last week’s sold-out table readings of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Proof is evidence of The Royal Palm Players’ spectacular season of rebounding from Covid. The enjoyment sparked by this performance alone, serves as a prompt to attend the upcoming production of the musical, The Fantasticks.

Film Festival begins with pre-festival party on Tuesday

The festival will officially begin on Wednesday, Feb. 23 with the following line-up: 10 a.m., Luzzu; 1 p.m., On Broadway; 3:30 p.m., Quo Vadis, Aida; 7 p.m., The Rescue (In-person only). On Thursday, Feb. 24 films include: 10 a.m., Last Film Show (In-person only); 1 p.m., Hit The Road; 3:30 p.m., Playing With Sharks; 7 p.m., SECRET SCREENING (In-person only). On Friday, Feb. 25 viewings include: 10 a.m., My Donkey, My Lover & I; 1 p.m., Imperfect.

‘Proof’ by RPP is back on, to be held under the Sunshade
